Spotify has announced that it will take over the audio component of Delta’s in-flight seatback entertainment beginning September 1st. In a statement shared with Travel + Leisure, Ranjan Goswami, Delta’s S.V.P. of Brand Experience, stated, “When traveling on Delta, our consumers deserve the very best in-flight entertainment, and Spotify is the very best in music and podcasts.” “We’re not just improving the audio experience onboard, but we’re also laying the groundwork for our future goal of a more customized travel trip that customers won’t find anywhere else,” says the company.
Podcasts such as Crime Junkie, Science Vs, StartUp, The Dave Chang Show, The Hottest Take, The Journal, and others are “licensed directly by Delta and free for all passengers.” Several of those are, predictably, Spotify originals. You’ll get access to playlists including Mood Booster, Are & Be, Hot Country, mint, Today’s Top Hits, Relax & Unwind, RapCaviar, and Ultimate Indie. That should give a fairly diverse selection of popular songs, though nothing too odd.
